Evaluation of Choroidal Findings in Optical Coherence Tomography Examinations in Retinal Vascular Diseases and Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Abstract
Retina is the tissue with the highest metabolic need in the body. 90% of retina nutrition is supplied by choroid. Destruction of the choroid tissue has an important role in the pathogenesis of many chorioretinal diseases. Appropriate examination of choroidal findings is significant in diagnosis and treatment processes of these diseases. Indocyanine Green Angiography (ICGA), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), and OCT Angiography(OCTA) are used in analysis of choroidal tissue in clinical practice. OCT is a developing technology that is widely available in retinal clinics, rendering high resolution imaging and objective classification. Choroidal findings identified in OCT scans are gaining more importance in diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. The best defined of these findings are Choroidal Thickness (CT) and Choroidal Vascularity Index (CVI).
