Localized Choroidal Dystrophies
Abstract
Localized choroidal dystrophies are a group of progressive hereditary diseases characterized by loss of retinal pigment epithelium, photoreceptors, and choriocapillaris. They are extremely rare. The first symptom is generally a decrease in visual acuity. In addition to imaging methods and electrophysiological tests, genetic tests are also used in diagnosis. In this article, the genetic features, clinic and course of central areolar choroidal dystrophy, Sorsby fundus dystrophy, North Carolina macular dystrophy, peripapillary choroidal dystrophy and progressive bifocal chorioretinal atrophy will be reviewed under the title of localized choroidal dystrophies.
