Idiopathic Anterior Uveitis and Granulomatous Anterior Uveitis: Presentation, Diagnosis and Treatment
Abstract
Idiopathic anterior uveitis is the most common form of anterior uveitis. These disorders are classified as “idiopathic” when no cause can be found. The clinical features are the main diagnostic element once the posterior segment is examined and masquerade syndromes and infections are ruled out. It is essential to establish the presence or absence of unilateral versus bilateral and granulomatous features. The diagnosis is then made with a detailed anamnesis and clinical examination. The treatment varies according to the etiology and disease severity. Idiopathic and granulomatous anterior uveitis are reviewed here.
