Glaucoma and Hypotonia After Vitreoretinal Surgery
Abstract
Increased intraocular pressure (IOP) and glaucoma frequently occur after vitreoretinal surgery (VRC). This pathology may be due to VRC itself, tamponades used, combined surgeries, and the patient's susceptibility to glaucoma. IOP measurement should be made in the controls of eyes with VRC and they should be treated effectively. Acute hypotonia may occur following intraocular surgery and usually returns after 10-15 days. However, persistent hypotonia can cause structural changes that can permanently affect visual acuity.
