Myopic Choroidal Neovascularization
Abstract
Myopic choroidal neovascularization (mCNV) is the second most common form of CNV after age-related macular degeneration. It is a complication of pathologic myopia that occurs mostly in young adult ages and affects the quality of life negatively. Previous therapies employed in 2000’s such as photodynamic therapy have shown limited visual improvement. Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor therapy (anti-VEGF) has been shown to be effective in the treatment of mCNV in several multicentric studies and has become the first-line treatment of choice. This article aims to review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features and treatment of mCNV.
