Combined Retinal Artery and Vein System Occlusions
Abstract
Four different clinical types have been reported for combined retinal artery and vein occlusions: Combined central retinal artery and central retinal vein occlusion, combined branch retinal artery and central retinal vein occlusion, combined cilioretinal artery and central retinal vein occlusion, and combined branch retinal artery and branch retinal vein occlusion. Cases with combined retinal artery and vein system occlusions are rare. Since these occlusions are generally associated with underlying cardiovascular and hypercoagulable conditions, cases should be evaluated in terms of these risk factors. Spread of ischemia and the state of the macula determine the prognosis and the efficiency of treatment in the combined artery and vein system occlusions.
