Histoplasmosis and Other Fungal Uveitides; Clinic, Diagnosis and Treatment
Abstract
The symptoms of ocular histoplasmosis are detected after many years from primary infection in endemic regions. It is a subclinical disease characterized by multifocal atrophic chorioretinal lesions and peripapillary atrophy. Choroidal neovascular membrane frequently develops during its course. Fungal uveitis besides candida is rarely detected and they develop mostly in immune compromised patients. Aspergillus, Cryptococcus neoformans and Coccioides immitis are the major organisms among those fungi.
