Diagnosis and Treatment in Other Parasitic Uveitis Apart from Toxocariasis and Toxoplasmosis
Abstract
There are many parasitic diseases affecting the eye. These parasites, which can be involved in intraocular and extraocular tissues, can manifest with a wide variety of findings and variable-severity of inflammation. Fecal-ocular transmission or direct invasion is possible. Direct observation of parasitic cysts in the stool, presence of eosinophilia and detection of mobile parasites in ocular tissues is diagnostic. Anti-parasitic medications, laser photocoagulation and vitrectomy may be needed.
